Saving Face

Matthew 28:1-16

The Sanhedrin went to great lengths to hide the truth of Jesus' resurrection.
Some of my most nightmarish memories are when I have not quite told the truth in order to save my own face and make myself look good to my audience.

The Long and the short

Mark 16:9-20

Both the long and the short version of the end of mark have Jesus sending out his disciples to the whole world. The short one even has it that he is in us as we are sent out. How awesome is that? May I remember that fact continually, the fact that Jesus sent himself out through me. Why worry any more about what to say or do?

I believe

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

I believe that Jesus really did appear to the disciples, just as Paul says. If I do not believe where do I stop believing and say the the story of the resurrection is a fabrication. We have hard historical evidence that Jesus lived.

Festivals and Seasons

I like birthdays, and Christmas and Easter, particularly Easter, all the days of Easter with the great mixture of emotions. The ups and downs of Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday. The nothingness of the Saturday and then the joyous celebrations of Easter Sunday. It is an emotional roller coaster. Even though I claim that Jesus walks with me daily it is good to have the reminder of specific events in his life.
I like reminder of dates, friends only visited by Christmas cards are often given an extra thought on their birthdate when I happens to give my calendar a nudge.
Yes I am a dates and season's person.

Old Clothes, New Clothes

Mark 12 : 1-11
Much of my more elegant clothing had a previous owner. I have friends who changed the shape of their body, usually through ageing or tired of their outfits. I was the happy recipient of the cast off clothing. To me, it was a completely new regalia.
We can tire of friends, or even ourselves but God always sees us as a potential piece in his jigsaw puzzle. For him our presence is necessary to the completion of his plan for humanity. Is not this amazing?

I Wish

2 Corinthians 1:8-22
We were watching "The Eggheads" on TV today. It is amazing how many times the people answering questions  first reaction was the correct answer but they argued themselves into an incorrect answer.
I wish I had Paul's confidence when it comes to knowing what God wants me to do. I spend hours vacillitating. What a waste of time when I could actually being doing what He wants. Perhaps I need to learn to make the decision which instinctively seems right and trust that if it was 'wrong' God can right the wrong.

Sharing

2 Corinthians 1:1-7

In times of need my greatest comfort is from friends who just come and share their time with me.
