Three weeks of temperatures continuously below freezing is almost enough to make one appreciate the Texan heat. Today I am smearing my limbs with lotion to try to overcome the cracking hands and flaking legs. A different lotion, a different problem. Intense cold, intense heat, both are painful. The sunrise looks the same in both places, a fantastic red hemisphere becoming a blazing ball as it rises in the sky. There is no hint of the impending heat on a Houston July morning, heat that cannot be avoided and from which the darkness gives no real respite.
God is. Period.
